Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB's Wethersfield, CT office has a need for an Environmental Scientist to join our growing Site Investigation & Remediation practice!

Responsibilities

    Develop and manage effective site investigation and remediation field programs
  • Provide hands-on support during field exploration and testing
  • Interpret and communicate investigation findings
  • Leverage technology to support data management and visualization
  • Manage and perform Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
  • Investigates any quality problems that lead to project changes and modifies project plans as needed
  • Ensures each project complies with federal, state, and local environmental regulations
  • Establishes and monitors budgets to assess profitability
  • Write technical reports, correspondence, notes and memoranda

Skills and Attributes

  • Ability to work in field and office settings
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Motivated and able to problem-solve
  • Familiarity working in urban environments, managing soil and groundwater on construction sites
  • Familiarity with state regulatory programs (Property Transfer, Voluntary Remediation, and Brownfields)
  • Strong knowledge of site assessment/characterization, data analysis, and remediation techniques

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Natural Science related field (Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources)
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of professional environmental/remediation consulting experience required
  • OSHA 40 hr. HAZWOPER certification and annual refresher certifications required
