We are currently hiring a Process Controller at our Irvine, CA production facility to ensure adherence to metallurgical and manufacturing requirements for ATI's Forged Products business unit.

You will ensure shop floor adherence to metallurgical and manufacturing requirements for ATI's Forged Products business unit. You will perform tasks pertaining to the quality, traceability, processing, tracking, and monitoring of forging related processes and forged products. This may include use of instrumentation to ensure adherence to appropriate process parameters and conformance of materials. Also, initiating corrective action during processing and making or seeking recommendations to achieve process compliance of forgings to ensure product quality for our customers. This position will also assist with R&D, forging process witnessing, root cause investigations, and other related technical duties.

A successful Process Controller will quickly grasp ATI's processes and technical instructions, be attentive and detail oriented, work collaboratively with multiple departments and stakeholders, and possess the ability to act quickly and make accurate decisions on the fly.

Essential Functions Include but Are Not Limited To:

  • Monitors forge shop furnaces to ensure that furnaces are set to and maintain temperature tolerance per internal and customer requirements.
  • Observes and documents forge production of parts to ensure adherence to routing requirements. This includes loading, heating, pressing, tool use and cooling parts.
  • Documents and alerts supervision, engineering, and management to deviations from customer requirements and/or written forge procedures.
  • Operates temperature measuring devices such as optical/infrared pyrometer for temperature evaluation of stock, forgings, furnaces, and tooling.
  • Recommends changes to Forging Instructions or Manufacturing Orders, coordinating with Forge Shop Supervision, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Assurance and Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Maintains configuration integrity through specification, drawing and other engineering document changes which may affect the forging quality by working closely with Quality Engineers, Metallurgical Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers
  • Utilizes checklists in order to document forging process related incidents during production.
  • Works closely with shop floor personnel to communicate the necessity of maintaining process integrity.
  • Develops Standard Work and Post-Forge inspection protocols.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as assigned in accordance with established Company mission and values.

Basic Required Skills:

  • Minimum 1 year of shop floor experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of use of inspection tools (micrometer, calipers, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications and engineering drawings.
  • Beginner to intermediate level skill with Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with safety focused concepts in manufacturing.

Preferred Required Skills:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate's Degree in metallurgy or related technical studies.
  • Previous experience with quality control or quality assurance in a production environment.
  • Previous professional experience with heavy manufacturing equipment.
  • Knowledge of aerospace quality systems.
  • Previous experience using ERP system.
  • Experience with generating and documenting standard work.
  • Experience with process audits.

Hourly pay range: $25 - $31
