ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of Human Resources will oversee the HR team This person will be accountable for providing leadership and direction surrounding hiring/onboarding processes, benefits administration, performance management, leadership development, and disciplinary processes, while implementing continuous improvement of processes and procedures.

  • Partner with leadership on processes and strategies related to HR objectives and compliance that best supports business goals
  • Reviews monthly base staffing reports for senior management and provide recommendations; establish staffing and retention goals based on business needs
  • Responsible for ensuring the effective execution of the following activities performed by the HR team and Payroll teams: Affirmative Action, Benefits, Backgrounds, Drug & Alcohol Testing Administration, FMLA, Recruiting/On-boarding, Training, Workers Compensation, Unemployment, Employee Relations, and Payroll
  • Support labor relations and contract negotiations and secure effective relationship between the company and union(s)
  • Develop and deliver company communications surrounding company initiatives, changes, concerns, and other sensitive topics
  • Advise all levels of management on effective performance management solutions
  • Conducts and reviews all investigations and ensures that all information is accurate and documented correctly; approves all suspensions and terminations as appropriate
  • Keeps abreast of legislation affecting human resources; trains management and monitors company policies to ensure compliance
  • Sets policies for hiring and oversees adherence to EEOC and affirmative action programs set by the company; conducts and oversees training, including diversity and unconscious bias training
  • Responsible for the development, growth, and advancement of HR and Payroll team members

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, reliability, and responsiveness
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, professionalism, and ability to communicate effectively with the public and co-workers on the telephone, in person, and group settings
  • Excellent writing skills (grammar, spelling, and punctuation)
  • Excellent analytical and time management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Must be able to pass a 10-year Background/Criminal check and pre-employment drug screening

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent work experience; Professional Certifications desired but not required
  • Five years of related experience in human resources or similar areas
  • Three to Five years of leadership experience
  • Labor union experience desired but not required
  • Sarbanes-Oxley experience desired but not required

MENTAL CAPABILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to handle numerous activities at once and complete in a timely manner
  • Work with limited supervision and possess an impeccable attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service and organizational skills required
  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gathering and analyzing information skillfully with significant detail
  • Ability to make decisions which impact the department's credibility and services
  • Ability to compose letters, outlines, memoranda, and reports
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure
