We are currently seeking a Process Innovation and Technology Engineer for our site in Charleston, TN.

What you will do:

The Process Innovation and Technology Engineer is a core process development team member tasked to investigate, identify, initiate, and effectively manage next generation technological engineering projects in partnership with the global process development initiatives. This role will provide a local expert and resource for ensuring a rapid transfer of technology developments to meet the specific needs of business divisions and sites. Additionally, this position will also function as a local resource to investigate and identify advanced capabilities or trends (technology, equipment, materials, etc.) within or as they become available in the market or through developing collaborations for potential local/global utilization supporting a world-class manufacturing operation.

  • Independently provide engineering and technological evaluations, guidance, and oversight to
    successfully prepare and execute approved projects in conjunction with the global process
    development team and local departments (R&D, engineering, and operations). Including:
    modelling, design, scale-up and optimization of processes and equipment; planning, construction and supervision of tests and pilot plants; technology development, techno-economic evaluation and scale-up of new processes; collaboration in and management of innovation projects; and technology studies and cost estimates (CAPEX, OPEX)
  • Independently identify, evaluate, and propose potential advanced technological solution
    opportunities for improvements to the organization for implementation assessment.
  • Conduct research and investigations in the market for potential technology, equipment,
    materials, etc. to develop and lead proof-of-concept assessments.
  • Identify and develop network contacts of potential technological suppliers or collaboration
    partners in support of future opportunities.

What we need from you:

  • B.S. in chemical engineering or related engineering discipline is required; M.S. or Ph.D. in a technical engineering discipline is preferred
  • 10+ years of related experience is preferred, with considerations given to the education and relevant experience
  • Ability to travel as needed, potentially up to 40% including internationally to Germany
  • German language skills (spoken and written) are beneficial
  • Ability to conduct initial onboarding/training in Germany for a 1-3 month period.
  • Demonstrated strong technical engineering skills with the capability to take ownership and effectively lead investigation and innovation projects to successful completion in an efficient manner.
  • Perform pre- and basic engineering of projects developing new equipment or prototypes, automation testing and introduction, to proof-of-concept development and testing with a transition to production.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills necessary to successfully work within the global and local matrix organization, various departments, and with external partners.
  • Inquisitive and innovative type personality willing to independently research and learn topics beyond their current experience in support of current or potential projects.
  • Knowledge or experience within the hyper-pure polysilicon production process, semiconductor manufacturing, or other high product quality standard industry is highly desired
  • Demonstrated skills in modelling and simulation of (bio-)chemical processes and equipment
    Knowledge of the relevant laws, regulations, standards and codes
  • Experience working with various technical engineering disciplines is highly desired
