Join our winning team as a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer in Charleston, TN. This role provides maintenance engineering support of ongoing and new operations and supports organizational and facility goals and objectives. The Maintenance Engineer willprovide mechanical engineering support to the plant by performing engineering analysis and calculations and assisting with plant troubleshooting, and recovery from day to day events.


Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Essential Job Functions:

  • Gathers information relating to improved plant operation and equipment and analyzes it on the basis of feasibility and economics. Arranges duties of investigating, developing, planning and organizing into an efficient and orderly system for accomplishing the assigned projectand for meeting objectives.
  • Prepares detailed scope of projectsin conjunction with process engineering, maintenance, safety, environmental and manufacturing; prepares Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR) and sets up cost control and reporting for projects.
  • Prepares detailed specifications for materials and equipment to enable Purchasing to obtain competitive bids. Responsible for reviewing bid analysis and making recommendations to Purchasing.
  • Implements Maintenance Excellence initiatives, goals and costs to improve the overall effectiveness of the maintenance department and actively participates in the Mechanical Integrity Program.
  • Utilizes analytical and engineering skills to identify and reduce or eliminate repeated equipment failures and identify cause and effect emergent repairs on plant equipment.
  • Works with Engineering on PSM implementation, i.e., work practices, design and repair standards, mechanical integrity, management of change, Layers of Protection, etc.
  • Supports RCFA to ensure long term maintenance equipment problems are appropriately investigated and assists with department budgeting and expenditure forecasting.


Mechanical Maintenance Engineer Minimum Requirements:

  • Must meet one of the following education and experience requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree* in Mechanical Engineering PLUS 2+ years of maintenance or reliability engineering experience
    • Bachelor's degree* in Engineering TechnologyPLUS 4+ years maintenance or reliability engineering experience
  • Knowledge of fixed equipment and applicable codes (tanks, heat exchangers, piping, API, ASME, etc.) required; knowledge of rotating equipment and design (ANSI pumps, centrifugal/reciprocating/liquid ring compressors, centrifuges, etc.) preferred
  • Experience with managing vendor proposals and quotations, contractor bids and development of desired solutions for projects is required; previous experience in reviewing contractor and vendor work quality is preferred
  • Certification in technical skills (vibration analysis, thermography, lubrication, etc.) preferred
  • Familiarity with SAP, AutoCAD and Visual Basic preferred.
  • Willing and able to travel occasionally to other Olin locations for meetings/training opportunities
  • Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
