Job Description

Position Details: Randolph-Macon College invites applications for a full-time clinical track or tenure-track position of Nursing Faculty in the Department of Nursing to begin August 2024.

Institution Information: Randolph-Macon College, founded in 1830, is a selective, primarily residential liberal arts college with an enrollment of 1500 students located in the northern suburbs of Richmond, Virginia. It is 90 miles south of Washington, DC and 15 miles north of Richmond. The RMC BSN program accepted the first freshman cohort in 2019, graduating 36 new nurses in May 2023 with an NCLEX-RN pass rate of 89%. We are looking for new and experienced educators passionate about preparing the next generation of resilient nurses committed to health equity and positive change within healthcare.

Major/Essential Functions: Randolph-Macon College faculty teach, advise, conduct research and engage in scholarship, and serve the college and department. Faculty teaching full-time in the nursing department have the responsibilities of their RMC faculty appointment and rank in regard to teaching, scholarship, and service. In addition, nursing faculty are responsible for implementing and evaluating the BSN curriculum under the leadership of the Chair. Nursing faculty are diverse, talented and innovative nursing professionals who will teach in their area(s) of expertise. Faculty are expected to have a minimum of 3 years of clinical expertise in their specified area(s) of clinical expertise as evidenced by their educational, experiential, and/or clinical practice experience. Teaching expectations include didactic, laboratory, and/or clinical teaching as appropriate to educational/clinical expertise. Areas of expertise include: Adult Health and Community/Population Health.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MSN or DNP for clinical track; Doctorate in nursing (PhD or DNP) for tenure track
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching
  • Evidence of a commitment to undergraduate teaching and student engagement
  • Unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or multistate licensure, Virginia eligible
  • Three years of clinical expertise in area of nursing practice expertise as evidenced by their educational, experiential, and/or clinical practice experience; and
  • Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to pedagogical methods that enable students across racial, ethnic, and socio-economic groups to reach their maximum potential.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in area of specialty and experience in nursing education; and
  • Academic teaching experience in baccalaureate nursing program
