Division and Unit Overview
The mission of the ACS Education Division is to provide contemporary chemistry education through resources, programs, and professional development that support excellence in teaching and learning and build informed communities. The Division provides programs, products, and services for leaners and educators at a broad range of educational and career stages.
Position Summary
The ACS-Hach Programs support the professional growth, development, and practice of current and future teachers of chemistry through scholarships, grants, and mentoring opportunities. The Program Manager for ACS-Hach Programs will manage and provide strategic direction for the pre-service scholarship programs: ACS-Hach Land Grant Scholarships, ACS-Hach Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Scholarships, and ACS-Hach Second Career Teacher Scholarships. This includes growing the programs, building a scholar and alumni community, and engaging chemistry faculty to support students interested in becoming secondary chemistry teachers. The position reports to the Portfolio Manager of the ACS-Hach Programs.
Work Design
Demonstrates creativity and ingenuity to perform assignments and create solutions. Demonstrates increased comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures associated with scholarship administration and program management. Nature of work includes identifying problems and providing solutions to resolve a variety of complex issues. Decision making involves setting priorities, evaluating results, and collaborating with others to formulate, interpret, policies or organizational practices to provide recommendations and solutions. Position requires 15 - 20% travel.
Position Accountabilities
Education/Experience/Technological Knowledge
This position will be primarily based in the Washington D.C. office.ACS employees work a hybrid work schedule, consisting of working onsite, three days per week. ACS employees are in the office on Tuesday and Wednesday with the third in-office day scheduled in consultation with the manager. While always welcome to work in the office, employees may work the other two days of the week from a location of their choice. New employees are immediately eligible for this hybrid work arrangement. ACS offers relocation assistance, if applicable.
