We invite you to build your Transportation career at HDR. We are looking for a motivated Highway/Roadway Engineer to serve in a technical role on the engineering development of urban and rural highway/roadway projects.

Previous experience with TDOT highway design, construction phasing/maintenance of traffic, concept alignments, geometric layout and roadway modeling is preferred. Interchange design and coordination of survey, grading, drainage, utilities and layout of other various site items is a plus. Project involvement may range from planning and feasibility analysis to final design and through the construction phase.

Primary Responsibilities

As an employee-owner in this role, we'll count on you to:

  • Oversee the work of Designers and EITs
  • Prepare detailed engineering designs for roadway and highway projects
  • Serve as technical liaison with client on project efforts
  • Oversee completeness and accuracy of project team's work; working with the Project Manager to assist the team in meeting overall project objectives and client expectations
  • May also assume some project management duties and have a fair amount of client interaction
  • Be open to opportunities to work with a variety of clients, projects and staff through HDR's collaborative work sharing efforts across North America

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • 5 years of experience in highways and local roads engineering projects
  • P.E. license preferred or the ability to obtain it
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Microsoft Office experience.
  • An attitude and commitment to be an active participant of our employee-owned culture

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in marketing including preparing presentations and technical proposals
  • TDOT and local government experience and relationships
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience using Bentley (Microstation, Open Roads) or Autodesk (Autocad, Civil3D) for model-based digital delivery
