LifeShield and its subsidiary, Individual Assurance Company (IAC), comprise one of the nation's most dynamic and rapidly growing carriers. LifeShield focuses on life and supplemental accident and health insurance products for individuals, families, businesses and associations, while IAC specializes in Medicare Supplement and group life policy administration.

The Underwriter will review insurance applications relying on instructions and pre-established guidelines to evaluate degree of risk to determine acceptance of applicants and, if approved, classify and rate each risk. Underwriters establish, maintain and develop agency and/ or broker relationships. This position has defined underwriting authority.

The schedule for this position is 8:00am- 5:00pm Monday -Friday.

Position Requirements:

Position requires at least 1 year of insurance experience, as well as related insurance underwriting knowledge.

Additional requirements include:

  • Analytical Skills (must be able to evaluate information from a variety of sources and complex problems)
  • Decision-making skills (must consider the costs and benefits of various decisions and choose the appropriate one)
  • Detail oriented (must pay attention to detail, because each individual item on insurance applications can affect the coverage decision)
  • Interpersonal skills (need good communication and interpersonal skills because much of their work involved dealing with people, such as insurance agents)
  • Technical Skills (being comfortable with computers)

A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent is preferred, but not required.
