Job Description

This fun and enlightening internship role will give you an understanding to the world of signature fundraising events. You will get to learn the ins and outs of putting on an event from start to finish for Make-A-Wish Illinois. This is a hands-on, insightful role ready for a candidate with a passion for events. We are looking for a quick learner and hard worker, someone who can work well independently, someone with passion and experience with events and someone who can jump right in! Come be a part of making our events come to life!

Daily Tasks Include:

  • Prepare for upcoming events which may include: event research, organization, spreadsheet cleanup, etc.
  • Daily work in applications such as excel, word, power point, etc. Includes, but not limited to: running auction reports, event research, updated committee information, etc.
  • Assisting with committee meetings. Help to set up, print agendas and meeting materials etc. Not required to be in attendance for meetings.
  • Assisting with event research and solicitations
  • Other duties as assigned

Time Commitment:

  • 2-3 full non-consecutive days per week from January to end of May.
  • On-site at two signature events during your internship:
    • I Wish to Party 2022 - Saturday, February 26, 2022
    • Wish Ball 2022 - Saturday, May 21, 2022

Hybrid environment required.

Requirements

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong people skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative environment
  • Ability to work independently/improvise on the spot
  • Desire to contribute to the mission of Make-A-Wish

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework in Business, Non-Profit Management, Events Management, Marketing or Communications
  • Graphic Design experience a plus

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to commute to our downtown Chicago office (we are located in the River North neighborhood)
  • Minimum age for all internships is 18
  • Selected candidates will be asked to participate in a criminal background check.
